The walkthrough

How it works.

From your settings to the result your team can review.

  1. 01

    Define the spaces

Enable link protection and exclude channels where sharing is welcome.

  2. 02

    Recognise the link

The filter looks for supported external-link formats in a message.

  3. 03

    Apply the rule

The bot attempts to remove the message using its channel permissions.

01

A policy filter, not a reputation scanner

Link protection recognises common HTTP, HTTPS and FTP URLs, www links, valid bare domains and IP-address links. When enabled, it attempts to remove matching messages.

02

Behaviour and exceptions

  • Link protection is disabled by default.
  • A routine link removal does not add a warning.
  • The dashboard can allow gifbox.me and its subdomains.
  • Channel or category exclusions can keep selected spaces outside automatic moderation.
03

Commands

~link-protection status

Show the current link-filter state.

~link-protection enable

Start removing recognised external links.

~link-protection disable

Stop the link filter.

~exclude CHANNEL_OR_CATEGORY_ID

Exclude a channel or category from automatic moderation.

04

Good uses for the filter

  • Announcement channels that only moderators should post in.
  • New-member spaces where links are not yet permitted.
  • Focused help channels where unrelated promotion creates noise.
  • Temporary incident response while a server handles a link-spam campaign.
